Ruminations about life and the world

What does life look without fear?

If you’re interested in a Harry Potter type of show, I recommend watching the show The Order on Netflix. It’s a fantastic show that follows a few college kids that get into this secret and exclusive magic group.

In one of the episodes in season 2, a demon infiltrates the world to cause mayhem. Interestingly enough, the way that this demon causes trouble is by not killing people but stealing their ability to fear.

He turns people fearless.

However, what comes next is an exciting twist. Since people don’t fear him anymore, they are no longer worried about him. He simply walks by them, and they don’t even flinch as he continues to take the fear away from everyone.

The demon’s goal is to take fear from everyone so he can control them and do as he pleases.

Oddly, people also start to do crazy extreme things like the jump of a building or put themselves on fire.

One of the characters even calls her parents and family just tells them exactly how she feels.

The episode was exciting to see a world without fear, but also highlighted the importance of it. Fear is not a bad thing and a part of our biology to protect us.

Fear prevents us from killing ourselves or saying something that we don’t mean.

More importantly, fear is truly in ourselves. If we change the way that fear programs us, we can improve our lives.

This show takes this concept of not feeling fear to an extreme, but a great episode nonetheless to help you think about fear and see the benefit of it.

At the end of the show, it was the people that still had fear that were the ones that stopped the demo from causing more chaos.

It was fear that helped spark action and strategy.
