Ruminations about life and the world

Staying healthy in a pandemic

I can’t believe that it’s been more than a month since I’ve been stuck at home because of this pandemic. I know that I speak for everyone that we all miss everyday life and hope this all passes. One of my core routines during the week was going to the gym and playing basketball. I’m a sports junkie and it’s been tough to be at home and not being able to play basketball with my friends or go to my local gym to stay in shape. I promise you that I’m not one of those gym bros, but believe in the importance of staying in shape and exercising.

The Bay Area was one of the first areas in the country to move into shelter-in-place and has been pivotal to limit the spread of the virus. However, it’s also easy to stay at home and fall back into bad habits.

Fast forward a month later and I actually think I’m in some of the best shape of my life and it’s only getting better. I wake up feeling super refreshed and my energy levels are sky-high. On top of work, I’m planning a wedding with my fiance and getting ready to take it up a notch with AltMBA. There have been two resources that have really helped me stay on top of my game and tackle everything that I have in front of me.

The first resource is the Beachbody on-demand app. I’m sure some of you have heard about Insanity or P90x, but for those of you that haven’t heard of it, it’s a set of at-home workouts that don’t require any equipment but will absolutely kick your butt. The app is loaded with over 80+ different workout routines that require little to no equipment and require as little as 20-40 minutes of your time. You would be surprised by how many different workouts are there that you can do with just your body weight. I promise that you will be absolutely drenched with sweat.

There are a few pricing options ranging from $39 for 3 months to an annual option for $99. This app is way cheaper than a gym and has given me the ability to be in the best shape of my life.

In addition to the Beachbody on-demand app, I also drink Athletic Greens (AG) first thing in the morning. Athletic Greens is the ultimate superfood cocktail that has your body feeling fantastic if you stick with it. For best results, you mix it with water, drink it on an empty stomach, and follow it up with a meal. I’ve been drinking AG for a month and my mind and body feel absolutely fresh.

These two resources have been absolute game-changers. I don’t think I need to renew my gym memberships once this is all over and have created new habits that I hope to carry with me for the rest of my life. Hope these two resources help you all as well.
