Ruminations about life and the world

9 predictions for the post-pandemic world

This is a tough time for everyone, but this contagion will pass. COVID 19 is causing everyone to re-think their lives. For some people, it’s a crucial wake-up call that they need to step up and make some drastic changes in their life. Companies will evolve their thinking and their business models. Governments have all learned a large lesson pandemic preparation.

The world, society, and life will change and evolve as we’ve never seen before.

Here are some of my bold predictions on what I believe the post-pandemic world will see:

  1. Gym memberships will decline – people will habituate to working out at home and buy at-home equipment like the Peloton or dumbells and continue their workouts
  2. Travel demands will go through the roof – airline companies are going to have their hands full because people are going to be antsy to travel
  3. Insurers and insurees will ensure that pandemic are covered as apart of their coverage
  4. K-12 schools curriculum evolves in offering distance learning and experiential courses such as allowing kids to stay at home if they are sick but still attend school. Or giving a presentation to the rest of the class about rainforests at a local rainforest and walk the class through actual trees and animals as opposed to showing it on a poster.
  5. All companies start to offer their employees more remote work opportunities to their employees and are open to more distributed teams as opposed to opening massive HQs.
  6. Some of the most meaningful companies for the next two decades are born during this quarantine
  7. Future pandemics will be handled swiftly and responsibly by governments, companies, and people. Everyone will move spring into action to create tests, mandate social distancing, and respond quickly to those in need. Pandemics will never cause issues the way it has with COVID 19
  8. Unemployment goes back down to record lows. However, hourly workers start to look for additional sources of income.
  9. Delivery businesses will flourish and grow. The numbers may drop slightly, people will habituate to getting groceries delivered as well. The number of shoppers will increase and furthermore there will be more emphasis on curated or expert grocery shopping.
  10. Bitcoin price skyrockets as scarcity continue to grow.

I wish you all the best of health through this tough time. Please continue to distance yourself from other people.
